Laser Engraving on Sterling Silver
Proudly Made in Britain.
our Shropshire-built lasers combine 60+ years of heritage with world-class British engineering, precision, and craftsmanship – a true mark of quality.

Laser Engraving on Sterling Silver.
Laser engraving on sterling silver can be assessed for jewellery personalisation, giftware, logos and product identification. The alloy, plating, polish and geometry influence the result. Compare enclosed laser marking machines and request a silver sample test using the same material and finish as your production items.

Sterling Silver in Retail Applications.
Applications to assess include initials inside rings, names on pendants, logos on giftware and small identification marks. Curved, hollow or thin items need suitable support and access to the marking surface. Establish acceptable detail, appearance and depth before judging the cycle time.
Engraving removes material to form the mark. Do not assume sterling silver will behave like steel or titanium annealing, or that every mark changes colour without material removal. Agree the desired appearance and allowable depth, then assess a sample and its finish.

The Benefits.
Check legibility under the expected lighting and after any polishing, plating or cleaning. A laser process does not prevent silver from tarnishing, and non-contact operation does not eliminate the possibility of heat effects or deformation. Fine detail needs assessing at its intended size.
The Laser Systems for you.
Use a supported part, an agreed marking location and a clear inspection method when personalising silver. A production identifier also needs a reliable connection to the relevant item or batch record.
Discuss the alloy, plating, geometry and desired mark with our UK team. Workstation selection should follow a sample assessment and a review of part handling.
Compare these enclosed laser workstations for your silver items:

Proto Lase
Consider Proto Lase when your silver item, fixture and marking area fit a compact enclosed workstation. Compare the part-height and lens options on the Proto Lase product page.
Assess a sample and loading method before selecting the configuration. A rotary attachment may help with cylindrical parts; its fixture and working clearance need checking together.

Neutro Lase
Consider Neutro Lase for silver item where a larger worktop enclosure and optional part handling are useful. See Neutro Lase configuration guidance.
Discuss XY movement, rotary tooling and lens choice against the actual component. Marking-field size describes the area covered by the lens, rather than the maximum size of a part.
Review handling, marking quality and inspection with the team before deciding on the workstation.

Atom Lase
Consider Atom Lase when a wheeled-base workstation suits the position and handling of your silver item. See Atom Lase workstation guidance.
Its published marking-field and maximum part-height options match Neutro Lase. Choose between them by installation layout, worktop versus standalone base, tooling and loading requirements.
Compare the complete laser range and request a sample marking test before choosing your configuration.
Silver sample testing: finish, geometry and handling
Surface finish and later processing
Supply the sterling alloy and confirm plating, lacquer or polish. Assess the mark before and after the intended cleaning or finishing sequence; appearance and readability can change.
Delicate and curved items
For rings, hollow jewellery and thin giftware, identify a permitted marking area and suitable support. Discuss rotary access, wall thickness and allowable depth. Consider cosmetic acceptance alongside legibility.
What to send for a trial
Provide representative silver items, the intended artwork or code, required depth or appearance, dimensions and target quantity. Request a sterling-silver marking test and review Proto Lase alongside the complete range.
